A téma rövid leírása, a kidolgozandó feladat részletezése:
A kutatás témája a fenti pontfelhő alapú munkafolyamatok automatizálása a feladatrészek algoritmizálásával, mesterséges intelligencia alkalmazásával. Cél nemcsak a tárhely, memória és számítási kapacitások optimalizálása, de objektív, feldolgozótól független, magas minőséget adó feldolgozási munkafolyamatok kidolgozása.

Előzetesen ütemezhető feladatok:
- közlekedési alkalmazások által megkövetelt adatminőségnek megfelelő pontfelhő alapú felmérési eljárás munkafolyamatának kidolgozása;
- útpálya geometria (pontfelhő és felületmodell) félautomatikus levezetése különböző forrásokból származó pontfelhőkből;
- forgalomban haladó jármű geometriájának levezetése és osztályozása pontfelhőkből;
- munkafolyamatok automatizálása.

Autonomous driving and vehicle dynamics simulation environments require high accuracy, high geometric and temporal resolution data on infrastructure (road surface and its surroundings) and traffic (classification, number, speed of vehicles). The penetration of BIM and the digitalization of work processes can be observed in road construction at the design, construction, and operational levels. In each of these work phases, there is an increasing demand for detailed virtual models, with the common element of relying on high accuracy, up-to-date geometric data, whether it is for a terrain model or the survey of earthworks or track structure.
Quantitative and qualitative requirements demand point cloud-based data extraction, point cloud processing and the use of the resulting derived data. Photogrammetric and laser scanning technologies can be used to measure the geometry of the road surface, supporting vehicle dynamics simulations for extreme accuracy measurements. These technologies can also be used to collect data on the roadway environment, enabling network simulations and simulations of self-driving vehicle control. Traffic can also be measured using point clouds, which can be used to determine the vehicle dimensions, measure traffic volume and speed, and support traffic classification.
High-resolution point clouds require large storage and computational resources, are currently labour-intensive to extract useful data for the application, and the processes are automated only partially and isolated, requiring the use of multiple software tools.
The research topic is the automation of these point cloud workflows by algorithmizing the task parts and using artificial intelligence. The aim is not only to optimise storage, memory, and computational capacity, but also to develop objective, user-independent, high quality processing workflows.

Pre-scheduled tasks:
- Develop a workflow for a point cloud-based survey process that meets the data quality required by transportation applications.
- Semi-automatic derivation of road geometry (point cloud and surface model) from point clouds from different sources.
- derivation and classification of vehicle geometry in traffic from point clouds.
- automation of workflows.
